Yonkers Honors Lieutenant Roy McLaughlin, 38

YONKERS, N.Y. -- The city of Yonkers is honoring Lt. Roy McLaughlin, who died on Sept. 10 from a 9-11 related illness, with an Inspectors funeral at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church on Monday.

McLaughlin, 38, was a member of the Yonkers Police force for more than 17 years. He helped rescue efforts at Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks in 2001. 

McLaughlin is survived by his wife, Christine; four children, David, Emmett, Maeve and Owen; parents Arleen and Capt. Roy McLaughlin (ret.); siblings Lt. Mitchell McLaughlin, Capt. Andrew McLaughlin and Sgt. Meredith McLaughlin, all of the Yonkers Police Department. 

Burial will take place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne following the service. 

Residents are reminded that Yonkers Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from Midland Avenue to Central Park Avenue until noon for the service.
