The semi-annual inspections are designed to test the city’s hydrants to ensure they are working properly, have proper pressure and can function effectively in the event of a fire.
Firefighters will conduct the inspections Monday through Friday until they are completed in June.
In the meantime, residents can expect to see fire trucks on their streets and crews opening hydrants and flowing water. During this testing procedure, there may be fluctuations in water pressure and cloudy or discolored water coming out of taps.
If this occurs, the city has advised residents to run cold water using the tap at the lowest point of the home or until the water runs clear.
