YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers fire crews have contained a one-alarm fire that started in the basement of a home at 28 Cross Street near Tuckahoe Road on Monday morning, according to Yonkers fire chief Thomas Fitzpatrick.

The fire, which was reported at approximately 8 a.m., started in the home's boiler and spread into the basement area, Fitzpatrick said.

An elderly couple and their middle aged son were reportedly in the home at the time. No one was hurt and the damage was limited to the basement.
