Yonkers police received a call shortly before 5 p.m. reporting a robbery at the Suds Car Wash at 866 McLean Ave., near the Harding Avenue intersection.

An employee of a nearby store, who wished not to be identified, said the trio of robbers hog-tied the owner to a chair inside the wash.

“These guys definitely knew what they were doing,” he said. “The way they went about it.”

After police arrived, the group of three suspected thieves led officers on a car chase along the New York State Thruway and onto Saw Mill River Road, into the village of Ardsley.  In the process, they reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour, police said.

Police said the suspects ditched their car near the Ardsley Acres Hotel, attempting to escape on foot. Two of the suspects were caught shortly after 5 p.m., including one who was located in a nearby pond.

The third suspect evaded police for a short time, prompting a shutdown of southbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway. He was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.

Police said at least one gun was recovered in the process.

Officers and detectives remained at the car wash along McLean Avenue shortly after 6 p.m., as yellow police tape surrounded the building.

No further information was immediately available.
