Westchester Man Faces DWI, Other Charges In Wrong-Way Saw Mill Crash

A Northern Westchester man is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, after driving the wrong way on the Saw Mill River Parkway and injuring three Metro-North employees when he crashed into their pickup truck, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police Department.

An Acura being driven by 29-year-old Christopher Scholl of Bedford Hills was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the parkway at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Friday morning when he struck the truck near Croton Avenue in Mount Kisco, O'Leary said.

The driver of the pickup truck told officers that he saw a pair of headlights coming at him, so he was able to swerve to avoid a full head-on collision, according to O'Leary. All four suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment.

Due to his injuries, Scholl was issued appearance tickets at the hospital charging him with second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. He will be booked at county police headquarters at a later date when he is released from the hospital.

Scholl is due to appear in Mount Kisco Justice Court to answer the charges on Thursday, Aug. 31.
