YONKERS, N.Y. - Two men were arrested on Thursday in Yonkers after police interrupted a stabbing in progress while investigating reports of a shooting on Porach Street.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, officers from the 3rd Precinct that were on patrol reportedly observed several men running into a bodega on Yonkers Avenue, and upon entering the location, interrupted a stabbing in progress.
According to police, 18-year-old Yonkers resident Nasir Brown was observed standing over and assaulting Mount Vernon resident Spencer Adams, 26, who was in possession of a loaded handgun. At the time of the interrupted assault, the Yonkers Police Department received an emergency call about a possible shooting incident that took place nearby in the vicinity of Porach and Walnut Street.
During the subsequent investigation, officers determined that several individuals were engaged in a dispute outside a Porach Street home, where Adams allegedly fired a shot from the .25 semi-automatic caliber handgun and attempted to flee, prompting Brown and several others to give chase before police intervened at the bodega.
The incident remains under investigation by detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit. Adams was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening stab wound and was placed under arrest pending charges for criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. Brown was booked on a charge of first-degree assault.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division at (914) 377-7724. Tips can also be sent by texting the keyword YPD plus the tip to 847411.
