Teen Steals Police Car, Caught After Fleeing On Route 9A In Yonkers

A teenager was apprehended shortly after he stole an NYPD police car he was put in and drove to Yonkers, where he fled from the vehicle on Route 9A (Saw Mill River Road) early New Year's Day morning, according to multiple reports.

The 18-year-old male, identified by the New York Post as Dekota Locklear, was handcuffed when he jumped into the driver's seat and stole the NYPD vehicle in Manhattan at a DWI checkpoint on the Henry Hudson Parkway.

He was apprehended around 4 a.m. Sunday, according to the New York Post. The search involved both aviation and ground units.

Charges against the teen have not yet been released.
