Police have arrested Tuckahoe resident Bruno Bertozzi, 21 and 19-year-old Eastchester resident Jasmin Rodriguez for their roles in a Jan. 21 incident turned violent, Chief Andrew Matturro said on Tuesday.
At approximately 10 p.m. on Jan. 21, patrols were issued to the Freightway parking garage for a routine check of the structure, when they were approached by a man and a female who claimed they had allegedly just been assaulted and the suspects were still in the garage.
Police immediately called for back-up to canvas the entirety of the garage with negative results.
According to police, the victims told investigators that they had arrived at the garage to meet with friends and hang out. While they were outside their vehicle talking, Rodriguez approached the woman, saying that they needed to talk.
The two women walked around the car, when Rodriguez reportedly said “I hear you are talking [negatively] about me from plenty of people,” before punching her victim, grabbing her hair and punching her repeatedly in her head and face.
During the scuffle, the female suffered bleeding from the nose, swelling to her cheeks and nose and reported “substantial pain,” according to police.
The victim’s boyfriend tried to intervene, but was then punched in the face and chest by Bertozzi, though he suffered no injuries.
Bertozzi was charged with harassment, a violation, for his role in the incident. Rodriguez was charged with harassment and third-degree assault. Both were issued appearance tickets and are due back in Scarsdale Justice Court later this year. An Order of Protection was also issued against both defendants by the victim of the attack.
