(Update: 4:40 p.m.) YONKERS, N.Y. ? Six families were displaced by a fast-moving four-alarm fire Monday afternoon in the southwest section of Yonkers, fire officials said,

There were no injuries in the blaze, which heavily damaged a three-story building at 94 Saratoga Ave., said Deputy Fire Chief John Flynn.

The fire was reported by a child shortly after 2 p.m, and the first units to arrive found the wood-frame building fully involved, Flynn said. The building has a central shaft running from the basement to the roof, and the fire spread through it, he said.

All Yonkers fire companies were on the scene, and mutual aid from neighboring departments provided coverage for the rest of the city, Flynn said,

He said all the apartments were damaged and the cause of the fire, which was declared under control at 4:15 p.m., is under investigation.
