Police Investigating Double Shooting In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers police detectives are investigating an incident that left two men shot and another with facial injuries Saturday morning.

Numerous patrol units responded to 31 School St. to a report of a male who had been shot at approximately 3 a.m., according to officials.

Upon arrival, officers observed a large group of people in the street, and subsequently located a 21-year-old man from Yonkers who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police report.

The man was transported to a local trauma center by Empress Ambulance, and was last reported to be in critical condition, according to officials.

Detectives immediately began an investigation at the scene.

A short time after the initial call, a 25-year-old Mt. Vernon resident walked into St. Joseph's Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, police report.

He was then transported to an area trauma center, and remains in stable condition, according to officials.

A third male at the scene had sustained a laceration to his face during the incident; he was later treated and released from a local hospital, police report.

At this time, it appears that all three individuals sustained their injuries at the scene of the dispute, according to officials.

Initial investigation has revealed that a dispute erupted at a large street gathering which had taken place at the scene, but it is unknown at this time what precipitated the dispute, police report.

The investigation is continuing at this time.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for video.
