YONKERS, N.Y. – A Friday morning fire in Yonkers left approximately three dozen people homeless.

Authorities said the fire occurred about 12:30 a.m. behind a multifamily home at 165 Linden Street on two floors in the rear of the building.

A total of five families and 28 people were displaced, according to the Yonkers Fire Department.

A tenant and six firefighters were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation, according to the Yonkers FD,

Yonkers OEM and the Red Cross provided assistance.
