Richard Servino, 61, a Yonkers resident that has worked in the city for 22 years, was arrested earlier this week and charged with larceny after $540 in quarters was discovered  in his car.

According to police, they were alerted to Servino’s skimming by a tipster, and launched an internal investigation that led to his arrest. He has been charged with larceny and will be suspended from his position for at least a month.

Servino’s arrest came one day before Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest Davis pleaded guilty to federal tax charges and admitted he failed to file income tax returns in 2003 and 2011. Davis faces up to two years in prison for his crimes, but as part of his plea agreement, it is believed he will serve between zero and six months while facing a fine no higher than $10,000.

Servino was released without bail and is due back in Mount Vernon City Court on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
