Fire Destroys Mount Vernon House

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A boarded-up two-story house went up in flames in Mount Vernon early Sunday, according to authorities.

It took Mount Vernon firefighters about an hour Sunday to put out a blaze in a two-story house at 465 South Ninth Ave.

Fire officials confirmed the address as 465 South Ninth Ave. near Sanford Boulevard.

No people appeared to have been living in the abandoned structure and there were no injuries among the firefighters, fire officials said.

The fire took an hour to put out and remains under investigation.
