Fatal Mt. Vernon Stabbing Case Sent To The Grand Jury

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A city judge on Monday sent the case of a Mount Vernon man charged with stabbing a woman to death Dec. 4 to the grand jury.

Lucius Crawford, 60, is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 42-year-old woman in his 7 Beekman Ave. home in Mount Vernon, police said. He is accused of stabbing the woman nine times.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office has 45 days to present the case to a grand jury. If Crawford is indicted, he will then be arraigned.

Following his arrest Dec. 4, Crawford was questioned by Yonkers police, who said he confessed to the cold-case killings of Yonkers resident Learonda Shealy, 23, and a Bronx woman in 1993. Yonkers Police said Crawford will be charged in the killing of Shealy.

Crawford was arrested in Yonkers in 1994 for the attempted murder of a female. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 to 20 years in state prison. Crawford was released and place on parole in 2008.
