Child, 3, Dies After Being Struck By Car On South Broadway In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - A 3-year-old died from wounds he suffered after being struck by a car in a busy Yonkers intersection on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, at 12:50 p.m., a motorist was heading westbound on Vark Street near the intersection of South Broadway when she struck the child. Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before the boy was rushed to the hospital, where he would be pronounced dead approximately an hour later.

The roadway was temporarily shut down by police as they conducted an investigation at the scene of the accident. The roads were re-opened within an hour.

No files have been charged against the driver, though the investigation is ongoing. Police said that the driver was cooperative and the boy was with his mother at the time of the accident. Anyone with information have been asked to contact Yonkers detectives at (914) 377-7724.
