To the editor:

This has been a momentous week for me as I concluded eight wonderful years as Yonkers City Council President with a farewell party and portrait hanging ceremony on Tuesday.

On Wednesday I was pleased to swear in Corazon Pineda as a new councilwoman from the Second District and pass the baton (or gavel) to Liam McLaughlin, the new City Council President.

I was glad to be in Mount Vernon where my friends and colleagues Roberta Apuzzo and Richard Thomas were sworn in as Council President and President Pro Temp and Councilmen Marcus Griffin and Yuhanna Edwards returned to the council.

I remain active with the Westchester Municipal Officials Association and will be on a panel on Thursday  Jan. 9 at the Ardsley Country Club along with Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, Yonkers Assessor David Jackson, Greenburgh Assessor Edye McCarthy, Scarsdale City Manager Al Gatta and Journal News "Taxbeat Columnist" David McKay Wilson on "Revaluation and other aspects of Assessing Real Property".

I particularly urge you to come if you are a municipal official from a Westchester Municipality considering whether or not to undertake the process of revaluation. Please contact me for details.

I hope that you and your families ,,, start 2014 off on a good foot.

Chuck Lesnick
