William J. McCarthy, 83, Of Yonkers, VP Of Frederic R. Harris, Inc.

YONKERS, N.Y. - William J. McCarthy Jr., of Yonkers died July 5. He was 83.

McCarthy was born March 22, 1930, in the Bronx, to Elizabeth and William McCarthy Sr. He worked as a civil engineer in roadway and bridge construction for over 40 years. He retired as  vice president at Frederic R. Harris, Inc. in New York City, now AECOM. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He attended Manhattan Prep and Manhattan College.

McCarthy is survived by his wife, Mary Louise; sister, Rosemary McCarthy of NYC; sister-in-law, Frances (Joseph) Biscoglio of Bronxville; daughters, Theresa of Tarrytown and Louise Flynn (Timothy) of New Rochelle; sons, William III (Theresa) of Eastchester, Joseph (Heather) of Wilmot, N.H., and John (Loren) of New Rochelle; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew; two great nieces; and a great nephew. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 8 at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 at St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers. Interment will follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy's Town of Italy, 250 E 63rd St # 204 New York, NY 10065.
