Wallace Lyall, 98, Of Yonkers, Food Manager, Finast Supermarket

YONKERS, N.Y. - Wallace Lyall, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Thursday, Nov. 20. He was 98.

Lyall was born Sept. 19, 1916, to James and Elizabeth Mann Lyall, in Yonkers, where he was raised and educated. He was a food manager in the Finast Supermarket in Yonkers for many years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Lyall is survived by his son, Bruce (Rosa) Lyall of San Francisco; daughters, Beth (Bart) Gallagher Flanagan of Yonkers, Janice (Warren) Freiman of Newington, Conn., and Lorna (Scott) Nelson of Trumbull, Conn.; sister, Elizabeth Zuzzolo of New Jersey; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Susan Gleason; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; and brother, James Lyall.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
