Vito J. Morretta, 88, Former Yonkers Resident, Letter Officer, USPS

YONKERS, N.Y. - Vito J. Morretta, a former resident of Yonkers and the Bronx, died Wednesday, April 23. He was 88.

Morretta served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a POW. After being discharged from the military, he was a letter officer for the USPS and later on served as a security guard at Yonkers Raceway.

Morretta is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Annette (Steve) Sorrillo and Marguerite (Stan) Rozek;and five grandchildren.

Calling hours are Friday, April 25 from 3 to 8 p.m. at F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704 | 914-375-1400. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at St. John the Baptist Church with interment following at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation.
