Sr. Ann Therese Trinidad, OP, Principal, Our Lady Of The Rosary In Yonkers

BLAUVELT, N.Y. - Sister Ann Therese Trinidad, OP, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, died May 24. She was 82.

Sister Ann Therese Trinidad was born Nov. 1, 1931,  in Ohio, to Angeles Castro Trinidad and Adolph Trinidad. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic Jan. 31, 1954, from St. Ann Parish, the Bronx. She received the Dominican habit Sept. 6, 1954, professed her first vows Sept. 7, 1955, and her final vows  Sept. 3, 1958.

She received the BA in psychology from College of New Rochelle, the BA in liturgical music from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Ind., and MA from St. Joseph College.

Sister's many years of ministry were dedicated to the education of youth. She taught in the following schools: St. Dominic, Blauvelt 1954 to 1960; Holy Spirit, Bronx, 1960 to 1967; Our Saviour, Bronx, 1967 to 1969; Our Lady of the Rosary, Yonkers, teacher, principal, 1970 to 1985; St. Mary, Closter, N.J., teacher, 1986 to 1987; Assumption School, Emerson, N.J., Principal, 1987 to 2007.

She was pastoral minister to the sick at St. Joseph Church in Bronxville from 1985 to 1986 and pastoral minister at Pascack Hospital in Emerson, N.J. She retired to St. Dominic Convent in September 2012.

Sr. Trinidad is survived by her religious congregation; brother, Al Trinidad; nephew, John Trinidad; cousin, Irene Hutton; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Services will be held at St. Dominic's Convent, 496 Western Highway, Blauvelt. Calling hours are Friday, May 30, from 3 to 7 p.m. Evening Prayer will be held Friday, May 30, at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at St. Dominic's Chapel. Burial at St. Dominic's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Dominic, Blauvelt, NY.
