YONKERS, N.Y. -- Lifelong Yonkers resident Sophie Turko died Sunday, Dec. 20. She was 79.
Turko worked at Abbott House in Dobbs Ferry for many years.
She was mother to Ted Turko; sister of Patricia Ruszbatzky; and grandmother to Eva Turko and Savannah Williams.
Turko was predeceased by her parents, John and Eva (Kanisczak) Turko.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Panahyda Service at 8 p.m. at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, 111 Yonkers Ave.A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
