Services Set For Jayna Montero, 28, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Jayna Montero, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Wednesday, Sept. 19. She was 28.

Police found Montero dead behind the wheel of her locked car while responding to a 911 call. Det. Lt. Patrick McCormack said Wednesday the cause of death was unknown.

Born Jan. 22, 1984, she was the daughter of Regina Beattie Montero and Yonkers Police Det. Raymond Montero. She attended Christ the King School and the Academy of Good Counsel. Montero graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

A talented dancer, she performed with the Broadway Dance Theatre in New York City and was passionate about ballet and hip-hop. She also excelled in many sports, loved music and had dreams of designing her own fashion line, her family said. She loved her cars and named her last one "Marilyn."

Montero is survived by her mother, Regina; her stepfather, Neal Duggan; her grandmother, Jeanne Bubbico Beattie; a brother, Frankie Montero; an aunt; three uncles; and several cousins.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Flower Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
