Salvatore Calvello, 94, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Salvatore Calvello, of Yonkers, died on Sunday, June 14. He was 94.

Calvello was born in Stigliano, Italy to Angelo and Angela Rasulo Calvello.

He served in the Italian Army during World War II for five years and was a POW for two years in Germany. He emigrated to the United States in 1955 and moved to Yonkers Avenue in 1963, He was a factory worker for Stewart Stamping.

Calvello  is survived by his wife Maddalena Pizzo Calvello, daughter Margarita Grimaldi and her husband Nicholas, grandchildren Richard, Nicholas and Salvatore Grimaldi and great-grandchildren Richard, Jessica, Caitlyn, Isabella and Nicholas Grimaldi.

He was predeceased by four sisters and one brother.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Flower Funeral Home Inc., 714 Yonkers Ave..

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers.

Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
