Rosemary Patricia Devany, 85, Former Longtime Yonkers Resident

FISHKILL, N.Y. - Rosemary Patricia Devany of Fishkill, formerly of Yonkers, died Saturday, March 1. She was 85.

Devany was born June 21, 1928, in Yonkers, to John J. and Mary (Mae) Langan. She attended St. Joseph's School and Blessed Sacrament Academy in Yonkers. She worked as a medical secretary at Mt. St. Vincent's Hospital in the Bronx until the birth of her first child. Later, she worked as a medical secretary for various doctors in Westchester. She lived in Yonkers all her life until 2006 when she and her husband moved to Fishkill, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Devany is survived by her husband, Thomas of Fishkill; daughter, Pamela (Christopher) Burkart of Somers; sons, Thomas Brian (Eileen McConnell) Devany of Cortlandt Manor and John Keith (Lori) Devany of Fishkill; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church on North Broadway, Yonkers. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
