Rosemary A. Roche, 92, Lifelong Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Rosemary A. Roche, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Monday, Oct. 5. She was 92. 

Roche was born July 7, 1923, to Andrew Roche and Nora Purcell. 

She attended Yonkers schools and graduated from Gorton High School. She was a member of the Monastery Church of Sacred Heart. Roche spent her career working for the New York Telephone Co., which later became Verizon, and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers. 

She loved to travel and visit exotic places. She also spent many winter seasons in Hawaii with her sisters. 

She is the last surviving sibling of the family; predeceasing her were Katherine Horrigan, Frances Horrigan, James Roche, Angela Kahlsdorf, Eileen Neville and John Roche. 

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Maura Roche; and her nieces and nephews, Kathryn Ellen Nelson, Maura E., Sean, Siobhan and Deidre Roche. 

Visiting hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church. 

Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
