Roberta Florence Lewis, 66, Former Yonkers Resident

FISHKILL, N.Y. – Roberta Florence Lewis, a resident of Fishkill since 1988, and formerly of Yonkers, died Sunday, Jan. 24, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 66.

She was born in LaCrosse, Wisc., on Aug. 19, 1949, to Robert and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Hagen. 

She dedicated her career to health care as a registered nurse. In 1981, she began working at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers and retired in 2014. She volunteered for Mid-Hudson Animal Aid in Beacon and also pursued many hobbies. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, as well as knitting and traveling. She will also be remembered as an amazing cook.

On May 14, 1988, she married Gerald E. Lewis, Sr. in Ardsley. 

He survives at home in Fishkill.

She is survived by her husband,  her daughters, Dawn Filippone of Fishkill; and Tracy Filippone (Donna Oberhauser) of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Justin Filippone of Burlington, Vermont; and Christine and Michael Morano of Somers; her stepchildren, Gerald Lewis, Jr. of Poughkeepsie, Susan Morano (Guy) of Somers and Carolyn Purnell (Michael) of LaGrange; and her siblings, Gloria Treola of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Carla Hagen of the Bronx; Joyce Sloman of Clearwater, Fla.; and Richard Hagen of Fla. 

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
