Robert Michael Bennett, 81, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Robert Michael Bennett, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, with family by his side. He was 81.

Bennett was born in Yonkers in 1933 to William and Frances Bennett.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an infantryman and later entered the University of Rhode Island, where he majored in biology, becoming a science teacher at Hastings High School.

Bennett was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa. He is survived by his wife, Margot; two sons, Michael and David and their spouses; a brother, William; two sisters, Carole and Mary; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 22, from 4-8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church on Monday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care.
