YONKERS, N.Y. - Mildred H. Devitt (Nee Eichel) of Yonkers died Sunday, May 4. She was 91.
Devitt was born May 10, 1922, to Herbert and Ellen (Welch) Eichel in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School and Commerce High School in 1940. She was head teller at various banks in Yonkers including Bank of New York and County Trust for over 40 years. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Church.
Devitt is survived by her sons, Robert F. (Andrea) Devitt Sr. of Yonkers and Edward J. Devitt of Mt. Kisco; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Barnett. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Devitt; brothers Harold and Herbert Eichel; and sister, Ruth Barnett.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 in Christ the King Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
