Mary Sarson Stipanovic, 93, Former Longtime Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Mary Sarson Stipanovic, 93, of Baldwinsville, a former longtime Yonkers resident, died Tuesday, April 21.

She was born in Morley, Colo., to the late Rudy and Valerija Sarson.

In the 1920s, the family relocated to New York City, where Stipanovic completed high school and played for the Manhattan Accordion Club.

She worked in the guidance department at Lincoln High School in Yonkers for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Jeannie (Dennis) Vernoia; one son, Arthur (Elena) Stipanovic; one brother, John Sarson; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Branko Stipanovic, and one brother, Rudy Sarson, preceded her in death.

Calling hours will be 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Sinatra Memorial Home.

Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Ave., Hastings-On-Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McHarrie Life Foundation, 7740 Meigs Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
