Mary Louise McCarthy, 83, Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers resident Mary Louise McCarthy died Tuesday, Jan. 19. She was 83.

She was born in the Bronx on Oct. 3, 1932, to Louise and Joseph Minetti. 

She worked in the main office of the Ursuline School in New Rochelle for over 40 years before her retirement in 2013. 

She attended the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx and the College of New Rochelle. Before raising her five children, she was a French Interpreter at the U.N. and a kindergarten teacher at Sts, Peter and Paul School in Mount Vernon. 

She is survived by daughters Theresa of Tarrytown, and Louise Flynn (Timothy) of New Rochelle; sons William III (Theresa) of Eastchester, Joseph (Heather) of New London, N.H., and John (Loren) of New Rochelle; her sister-in-law, Rosemary McCarthy, of New York City; her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Joseph Biscoglio of Bronxville; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren Luke (Kate), Timmy, Anna, Jenna, Lily, Sarah, Tommy, Elizabeth Rodesky and Kate Rodesky; and one great-granddaughter, Bridget McCarthy, of Manhasset.

Her husband of 58 years, William Jr., died in 2013.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Fred McGrath's Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., Bronxville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:45 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ursuline School in New Rochelle or Iona Prep in New Rochelle.
