Marie Mele, 99, Of Yonkers

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Marie Mele, of Delray Beach, formerly of Yonkers, N.Y., and Boca Raton, died Nov. 6. She was 99.

Mele was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Yonkers, to Madeline and Joseph Ferrera. She was a homemaker. She was quite active in both the Yonkers and Westchester County Council of Parent Teacher Associations, serving as president of the former. She was a member and served on the Ladies Auxiliary at the Davenport Club in New Rochelle. She and her husband retired to Boca Raton in 1984. For several years she was a volunteer at the Abbey Delray South Health Center.

Mele is survived by her sons, Robert J. Mele (Jo-Ann) and Jerry T. Mele (Grace); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Ben Basile and Jerry Mele; and sister-in-law. Ann-Marie Mele. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Mele; and brother, Thomas.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 3 to 9 p.m. at David J. Hodder & Son Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 13 at 9:45 a.m. in St. Barnabas Catholic Church located at 409 E. 241st St., Bronx. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
