Marie Margaret 'Peggy' Liberati, 84, Former Yonkers Resident

PAWLING, N.Y. — Marie Margaret “Peggy” Liberati, 84, a longtime resident of Yonkers and Pawling, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

She was born March 18, 1932, in Yonkers, to the late James and Laura Carnicelli. She worked for many years as a graphic designer for The Guide in Brewster, and she loved doing crafts, especially crocheting, cross stitch and painting. She loved plants, flowers, and watching the wildlife in her backyard. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

Liberati was a very devout Catholic; her religion being a very important part of her life.

She is survived by two sons, James Liberati of Poughkeepsie and Dominick (Dawn) Santariga of Long Beach Island, N.J.; a daughter, Lisa (Nicholas) Pfister of Dover Plains; a sister, Marcella Vitulli of Manahawkin, N.J.; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Adam, Nicholas and Loren and Melissa and Dominick; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Liberati, who passed away March 13, 2005; a daughter, Ellen Santariga, who passed in 1973; and a brother, Ralph Carnicelli.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Horn & Thomes Inc. Funeral Home, 83 E. Main St., Pawling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 39 E Main St., Pawling. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
