YONKERS, N.Y. -- Marie Angela Steele died Sunday, May 24, at age 91.
Steele was born July 7, 1923, in New York City to Gaspar and Consuelo Smallwood Vaccarino. She graduated from Mount St. Ursula High School in 1940. On Sept. 4, 1948, she married Vincent Steele at St. Theresa's Church in the Bronx.
Steele was affiliated with both St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville and Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers.
Her husband died in 2006. She is survived by her two daughters, Marian (Richard) Murray and Loretta (James) Dratch; two brothers, Robert and Gerald Gasparri; four grandchildren, Gregory (Gloria), Michael (Trina), Paul and Joseph; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Franco.
Visiting hours will be from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steele's name to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
