Maria Borkowsky, 87, Of Yonkers, Retired Clinical Lab Supervisor

YONKERS, N.Y. - Maria Borkowsky (nee Struminsky) of Yonkers died Friday, March 7. She was 87.

Borkowsky was born Aug. 26, 1926, to Josef and Maria Struminsky in Delatyn, Ukraine. She worked as a clinical lab supervisor in the Hematology Dept. at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for over 33 years; retiring in 1991. She earned a Masters Degree in Pharmacy from the Ukrainian Technical University in Germany. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, a member of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America and PLAST–Pryiat (Org. of parents of Ukrainian Scouts).

Borkowsky is survived by her son, Taras G. (Maria) Borkowsky of New Jersey; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Roman; and brother, Dr. Jaroslaw Struminsky.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 10 at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment St. Andrew's Ukrainian Cemetery in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.

Donations may be made payable to the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, with the notation "UNWLA Endowment Fund at the Ukrainian Catholic University, Ukraine" and mailed directly to UNWLA Headquarters, 203 Second Ave., New York NY 10003.
