Manuel J. Nabais, 85, Longtime Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. - Manuel J. Nabais, a longtime Yonkers resident, died April 19. He was 85.

Nabais was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Espinhal, Portugal. For many years, he was employed as a policeman in Portugal. In 1967, he left his native Portugal and came to the United States and settled in Yonkers. He worked in construction and landscaping and was also a member of the Portuguese American Club in Yonkers.

Nabais is survived by his wife, Maria V. (Pires) Nabais; children, John (Pam) Nabais and Cristina (Michael) D'Angelo; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by four brothers.

Calling hours are Tuesday, April 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Our Lady of Fatima Church (South Broadway). Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
