Maksym Czura, 90, Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. — Yonkers resident Maksym Czura died Tuesday, May 10. He was 90.

A native of Poland, Czura came to the United States at 18 and worked in the maintenance department for General Motors in Tarrytown for 37 years, before retiring in 1990.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of Local # 664 and an avid gardener and painter. 

In addition to his wife Sophie Pauline Koretkowski, Czura is survived by his three children and their spouses, Robert and his wife Sylvana Czura, Victoria and her husband Kevin Cahill and Patricia Czura. He also is survived by his six grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Kathleen, Kevin, Caroline and Mary-Kate; his great-grandson Kieran; his sister, Anastasia Ulanski; and several nieces and nephews. 

Czura was predeceased by his brother, Steve; his sister, Helen Sysak; and his parents Harasym and Julia (Mlyniryki) Czura.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place. 

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
