Leonard Serafin, Of Yonkers, 90

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Leonard N. Serafin, a Yonkers resident, died Monday, Feb. 23, at age 90.

He was born on July 18, 1924, in Yonkers, where he was raised and attended schools.

Serafin was a part-owner with Serafin Oil Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1984. Leonard was a member St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Catholic Slovak Club. He was a World War II Navy veteran and he joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1666 in Yonkers.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Izbansky) Serafin, who died in 2006. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Peter, Susan, Diane, Andrew, Michael, Walter, Mary (Kim), Barbara and Joan. He was predeceased by all his siblings, Michael, Walter, Peter, Theodore, Andrew, Mary Ribinsky and Olga McNulty.

Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
