Kim Marie Makar, 39, Lifelong Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. - Kim Marie Makar, a lifelong Yonkers resident, Dec. 8. She was 39.

Makar was born Dec. 25, 1973, to Leo and Marie Makar. She attended Saint Casimir's Elementary School in Yonkers and graduated from Good Counsel Academy in White Plains in 1991. She matriculated at Fordham University in the Bronx. She graduated in 1995 with a degree in accounting. She went on to receive an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business in 2001 with concentrations in management and finance. For the past seven years, she worked in the Internal Audit Division of AIG in New York City. She was most recently a senior manager in that group. Prior to AIG, she had worked for JPMorgan Chase.

Makar is survived by her husband, Robert; father, Leo; many aunts, uncles; cousins; and three godsons. She was predeceased by her mother, Marie.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Home, 732 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Saint Casimir in Yonkers. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Makar’s name to either Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
