Karatina Euphrosia Kurilla, 86, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Karatina Euphrosia Kurilla of Yonkers died Feb. 21. She was 86.

Kurilla was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Yonkers, to John and Euphrosia (Obuch) Shutovech. She attended Yonkers public schools and graduated from Commerce High School in 1945 where she was a member of the Arista Society. She also attended Hunter College. She was employed as secretary to the vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City, next she became secretary for St. Michael's School and then Lawrence Hospital in the Infection Control department.

She was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, and was on the CYO bowling team, St. Michael's PTA, and Golden Agers Club.

Kurilla is survived by her daughters, Karatina Kehoe (Gerard Kehoe), and Barbara Mahon (Frank Mahon); two grandsons; a granddaughter; sister, Barbara Kocur (William Kocur); nieces and nephews; a grandniece and a grandnephew; brother-in-law, John Kurilla. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Kurilla.

Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home with Parastas at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church with interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery.
