Josephine S. Gorman, 94, Formerly Of Yonkers, Retired School Counselor

SOMERS, N.Y. - Josephine S. Gorman of Somers, formerly of Yonkers, died Dec. 16. She was 94.

Gorman was born May 11, 1920, in New York City and graduated from Good Counsel College in White Plains, in 1941. She was a teacher at Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy in Riverdale, St. Barnabas School in Woodlawn and the Yonkers schools for many years. She went on to receive a Masters in Counseling at Manhattan College in Riverdale and finished her years in Yonkers as a School Counselor, retiring in 1982. She lived for many years in Yonkers before moving to Somers.

Gorman is survived by her children, Patricia Rowan (Joseph) and William J. Gorman (Dorothy); 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Gorman; children, Richard W. Gorman (Cynthia) and Marilyn Entwistle (Paul Dinter).

Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 18 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Phelps Hospice, 701 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow.
