Joseph Yaroschak, 81, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Joseph Yaroschak, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Monday, May 4 at St. John's Riverside Hospital. He was 81.

Yaroschak was born on March 13, 1934 to Joseph and Anastasia Jurichko Yaroschak in Yonkers.

He graduated from Saunders Trade & Technical School and worked as a real estate researcher for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City.

He also worked for the Green Valley Nursery in Hawthorne for 25 years until 2014

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Joseph Yaroschak; two daughters, Mary Schwalbe and her husband Mike of Lake George and Gloria Gray of Hyde Park; three stepchildren, James Roche and his wife Antoinette of Mahopac, Kathleen Cristantiello and her husband Louis and Patrick Roche and his wife, Ellen of Hopewell Junction; his brother, Andrew Yaroschak of Suffern; and three sisters, Mary Robinson of Florida, Anne Cobelli, Helen Sessions and her husband James, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Yaroschak was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores and a stepson, John Roche.

Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Donations in Yaroschak's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
