Joseph J. Pietropaolo, 86, Former Yonkers Resident, WWII Veteran

CARMEL, N.Y. - Joseph J. Pietropaolo "Peachs" of Carmel, and a former longtime resident of Yonkers, died Oct. 22. He was 86.

Pietropaolo was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Yonkers, to Nicola and Frances Pietropaolo and attended Yonkers Public Schools. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Armando Rauso Amvets Post #40. For many years he worked as a butcher and meat cutter for A&P and Shopwell Supermarkets and was also the supervisor of their meat departments.

Pietropaolo is survived by his wife, Mary (Rubio) Pietropaolo; sons, Joseph (Maria), Andrew (Pamela), Gary (Elizabeth) and Steven (Karen) Pietropaolo; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Camile Perkins and Rosario (Russell) Pietropaolo.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 24 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church followed by entombment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
