YONKERS, N.Y. -- Joseph (Pop) Anthony Falasca gently and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 3, and was reunited with the love of his life, Helen (Goidz) Falasca, who predeceased him in August 2000.
Joe was born in Yonkers on Nov. 21, 1927, to Francisco Giuseppe and Elena (Zorra) Falasco and was the youngest of five children, including Norbert, Louis, Rena, and Theresa (Spinelli), who all predeceased him. He is survived by his children, Joseph; James and his wife, Catherine (Boyer); Suzanne and her husband, Thomas Barnett; five grandchildren, James, Jason, Ashley, Thomas and Taylor; his sisters-in-law, Stella (Goidz) Giordano and Gloria Falasco; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a proud World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines and a proud and beloved superintendent/property manager of 180 Hawthorne Ave. in Yonkers from 1966-86. He was also an active member of St. Peter's Church, the Lud-Dale Boys' Club, and the Yonkers Republican Party. He was loved by many, both young and old, for his generosity, kind words, his smile, and sharing a cup of coffee with those who knew him best. Fondly known as "Pop," he touched the lives of many and will deeply be missed by all.
John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
Family and friends will honor the life of Joseph on Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
