Joseph F. Dwyer, 88, Former Resident Of Yonkers, WWII Sea Veteran

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Joseph F. Dwyer, a resident of Poughkeepsie and formerly of Yonkers, died Nov. 22. He was 88.

Dwyer was born to Rose and Michael. He was a graduate of Gorton High School and served in World War II as a merchant seaman.

Dwyer is survived by his sister, Patricia Stephens of Middletown; brother, Donald (Veronica) of Congers; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Edward.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, Congers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 at St. Paul's Church. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
