John Kowalczyk, 78, Of Yonkers, Foreman, Precision Valve

YONKERS, N.Y. - John Kowalczyk, a resident of Yonkers, died Feb. 7. He was 78.

Kowalczyk was born May 28, 1935, to Jacob and Anna Mamrosz Kowalczyk in the village of Stawisza in the Lemko region of southeastern Poland. After serving in the army, he immigrated to the United States in 1960. He was a longtime member of several Lemko organizations. After his marriage he settled in Yonkers. He worked for Precision Valve as the foreman for over 35 years.

Kowalczyk is survived by his wife, Melanie; children, Stephen (Alexandra) Kowalczyk of Cross River, Christine (William) Szpynde of Amawalk; five grand daughters; brother, Andy (Mary) Kowalczyk; and sister, Olga (Joe) Kowalczyk. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Walter.

Calling hours are Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church with Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery.
