YONKERS, N.Y. -- John Egan, of Yonkers, formerly of Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland, died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 31, at age 84.
Egan was the New York state past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and worked for Con Edison for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine (nee Cunnane); his children, Ann, Maureen (Michael) McGorty, Kathy (Michael) Connor, Jack (Tawna) and Joseph; and his grandchildren, Kristin, Johnny, Caitlin, Julianne, Matthew, Tara and Brian.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas Church, with interment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The family will be at F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., 732 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday.
