Irene Frances Mlynar, 88, Of Yonkers, Secretary, St. John’s Hospital

YONKERS, N.Y. - Irene Frances Mlynar (nee Fitzgerald) of Yonkers died Monday, Nov. 24. She was 88.

Mlynar was born Jan. 31, 1926, to William and Irene (Shultz) Fitzgerald, in Yonkers, where she was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She worked in the business office for Sacred Heart High School and then as the secretary for the business office at St. John's Hospital for 15 years. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church; also a member of the Monastery Players; Sacred Heart Choir and a volunteer at various church functions.

Mlynar is survived by her children, Robert (Kathy) Philp, Michael Philp, Edward (Susan) Mlynar and Irene (Brian) Mahelski; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lois (William) Thompson; brother-in-law, Thomas Keane; sister-in-law, Joanne Sicari; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Edward Mlynar and Robert Philp; brothers, William, John, Robert Fitzgerald; and sisters, Margaret (Peg) McLaughlin and Eleanor Keane.

Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 28 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
