Helen Collins, 90, Yonkers Resident and N.Y. Telephone Employee

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Helen Collins, 90, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Feb. 10.

Helen was born to the late David and Margaret Anderson on Nov. 22, 1924. She married her husband, Daniel, in 1943 while he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He preceded her in death in 2005.

They raised their family in the Bronx before moving to Yonkers in 1970. Helen was a 20-year employee of New York Telephone. Upon retirement, she and Dan traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. They were also members of the Coyne Park Senior Center. Helen was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by her sons David (Nancy) of White Plains; Daniel (Christine) of Morristown, N.J.; her sister Betty Coriell of Fords, N.J., and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at David J. Hodder & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in her memory to Siena House, 85 West 168th Street, Bronx, N.Y., 10452, where she devoted her time and energy helping others.
