Grace J. Bowen, 91, Retired City Of Yonkers Planning Department Employee

YONKERS, N.Y. - Grace J. Bowen (nee Johnston) of Yonkers died Monday, April 7. She was 91.

Bowen was born Feb. 11, 1923, to Kenneth and Joanne (Powers) Johnston in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Sacred Heart H.S., class of 1940. She worked as a secretary for the City of Yonkers Planning Department for over 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.

Bowen is survived by her daughter, Joanne Mancuso of Middletown, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Rosemary Bowen. She was predeceased by her  husband, Joseph J. Bowen; son, Paul Bowen; son-in-law, Anthony Mancuso; and brothers, John and Kenneth Johnston.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10 in Sacred Heart Church. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Donations may be made to either the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude Ave., Memphis, Tenn., or the Wounded Warriors Project.
