Gloria S. Duncan, 89, Formerly Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Gloria S. Duncan, a former longtime resident of Yonkers, died Monday, March 2, at her home in Toms River, N.J. She was 89 years old. 

She was born in Yonkers on Dec. 8, 1925, to Dr. William and Rose Shanley. 

She attended Blessed Sacrament School in Yonkers and graduated from the Scarborough School in Scarborough.

For many years, Duncan was employed in the banking industry, most recently at National Westminster Bank in Yonkers. She retired in 1987 and relocated to Toms River. 

She is survived by her sister, Muriel J. (Betty) Baker, formerly of Yonkers, with whom she shared a home in Toms River. She was predeceased by her son, Dennis, in 1983 and her brother, William Shanley, in 1999. 

Visitation will be Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, N.Y.  A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Warwick, with interment in St. Stephen's Cemetery. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the ASPCA.
